Many just assume because they live in an area where DSL and cable internet do not reach that there only option is slow dial-up.
Many believe that there situation can be solved by a local wireless service or cell card provider that advertises high speed internet other than satellite.
The only true bridge to the BROADBAND DIVIDE is satellite internet.
This is because satellite internet delivers a constant satellite to end user stream through a direct connection unlike other land based wireless carriers that are effected by the constraints of geography that can severely degrade the performance. The irony to these other wireless services is they do the opposite for what they are intended for for a large percentage of the rural population. Why: Just like cell phone reception, the further you get away from the microwave the weaker the weaker the service gets. In this case slower!
I explain the it to people like this. If the solution to the broadband divide was as easy as putting a cell phone card in your laptop, there would be no need for a hundred million dollar plus satellite internet industry.
